Good News!

So, Tiger A.K.A "Grandma Stinky" has gotten very very old and has over the last couple of years lost a lot of weight. I think the vet said she is between 16-18 years old which is almost 100 in human years...she's just old. We took her to the vet last year and all he said was she had a urinary tract infection, gave us some pills and sent us on our way.

Then within the last couple of weeks she has started meowing and meowing and meowing and meowing like crazy and it's driving me crazy and I didn't know what was her frickin' problem! I almost put her on the doorstep until she stopped crying like Jane does with the kids but I changed my mind. :)

I called the vet and they actually come out to your house for those "Difficult animals" which Grandma Stinky falls into that category and do the exam there which is very convenient and worth the extra cost. So this Doc said some really scary things about Tiger and what she might have...she was saying things like colon cancer, liver cancer etc which is so sad my poor baby Tiger but she said she would have to wait till she got the results back.

She calls and says everything is great! No cancer no problems really. There are still some minor issues she has Inflammatory Bowel Disease which is very treatable so all I have to do is put her on a new prescription cat food and a pill once a day. Not bad I can handle that. Grandma Stinky should be lookin' good or as good as she can look for 100 years old here soon. To any of you who care about Tiger, Mom I know you really really miss her.

It was sort of funny the Doc also had some things to say about Snax A.K.A Fat cat. She said that she is probably on her way to being Diabetic...I had a hard day when she came over I had a cat with cancer and one with diabetes what a day. So starting next week Fat Cat has to be on a new diet. Ey ey ey ey ey cats! But to anyone who loves their animals get them checked out and on good food and as Bob Barker always says "Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets."
I guess I don't see a problem with these pictures...Diabetes, silly Doctor ;)

And as for Roxy she is just as content as can be sleeping in really uncomfortable positions and getting into the mail box drop in the wall :)

Happy Birthday Nick!

Well it was Nick's 29th birthday last week...this is where I sing "Old Man River" in my deepest voice :) I made his favorite German Chocolate Cake. Thanks to Mom I was able to get the ingredients over the phone while I was on my way home, which saved me a lot of time because I always manage to do everything last minute, that's the Turner way no? It didn't look much like the picture in the cook book but it was absolutely amazing, Nick said it was the best he's ever had and I don't think he was just telling me that because he had to, it was really really really amazing.

For a really long time I've heard Nick say that he wanted a game from his childhood, Rattle Me Bones the pirate game anyone remember it? Anyhow, I was able to track it down THANK YOU EBAY! Even though I ordered it over two weeks ago we just got it in the mail today while I was at work. Nick called and asked if he could open the "Mysterious box on the door step" and I could hear him opening it over the phone. Listening to him get all excited was the funniest thing I think I've heard in a long time and I quote "Alright that's mine!" Ah ha ha ha he was so excited, I'm glad I was able to find it for him I think it made his day.

Also, here is the picture of Nick on his first day of school in front of our door like Mom made us do, hilarious. I love it, he's got his school shirt on and his brand new backpack over the shoulder, way cool.

I got a little in the holiday spirit and put up some of the Christmas crap I have, still no tree yet I don't want to get it to early.

Happy Homemaker Monday and such

Happy Homemaker Monday, here is my latest creation this week. I purchased this chair from the company I used to work for. It was the exact chair I sat in for two years while I worked there and I have really grown to love it. That's right I said it I LOVE THIS CHAIR! So when I left the company I bought it just in time to keep my employee discount and got some awesome new fabrics to re-uhpholster it. It used to be a really bright blue which I wasn't really diggin'...but the obnoxious orange I love. It's called an Uno chair and it may not look like much but I think everyone should have one, it's quite amazing.

Here is a video of Nick takin' a bath...curious?

26.2

So, I'm retarded...I've decided I am going to run the Phoenix Marathon in January. I can't believe I'm doing this again after all the PAIN from last year's marathon (Which I barely finished :) But I finished. The cool part is my company is paying for it which saves me $105 bucks a-thank-you. How could I pass that kind of a deal up? The crappy part is I won't be doing it with my sisters this time because everyone had to go all prego on me :) oh and we moved. I wish I had someone to run with but we'll see how it goes, wish me luck...I'm going to need it!

Happy Homemaker Monday!

So, it's Happy Homemaker Monday in case you all forgot and I wanted to share with you a little somethin' I whipped up in the kitchen. So we were at home the other night and Nick said he really had a craving for some Peanut Butter Cups which we didn't have, he has a real sweet tooth. So while he was at school I found a recipet for them and here they are right out of the freezer just how he likes them. Nick took some to school and like the nice guy he is he shared them with his friend who didn't believe that his wife actually made them. Not bad.

Ta da!

We had a lot of fun this weekend we went to the largest car show I have ever been to in my life! There were over 3,000 cars, we actually made it through the whole thing with time to spare so we went into the tent where they had all the vendors selling tools and car parts, it was awesome. We've been saving up and here is a little something we brought home, what do you think?
Just kidding, but I sure can pose and dream no?

Catching up, I won't let you down from now on.

So, I haven't blogged in a couple of weeks sorry guys, I know you are just dying to know what we are up to huh?

Well I started my new job last week and so far I love it! The building is beautiful with a view (not a corner office view ) but it's pretty nice and lights!!!!!!!! I have light which I NEVER had at my last office. It's amazing how such a little thing like natural lighting could make all the difference in the world. The people I work with are great so far and guess what? I work with a bunch of vegetarian, vegan, hummus eatin' hippies how much better could it get? We have vendor meetings and they bring in lunch for us and at my last job I was always the "Difficult" one because I didn't eat meat but not at Apollo Group the tally is 3 to 2 so the vegetarians are winning in the lunch department. :) I am excited to get some projects going and start being helpful because right now I am just learning their process.

I'm not sure if I have talked about Nick starting school yet or not but he did....and loves it. I think the first day I was more excited than he was when he came home I wanted to know everything that happened...which is never very exciting for those first couple of days. I even took a first day of school picture just like Mom used to do for us in front of the door with the poster on it. I made him stand in front of our door in his school shirt that they make them wear with his brand new backpack over his shoulder....ah ha h ah ah ah ah he's such a good sport. I wish I could post the picture but our camera wasn't working that day of course so I had to use what was left on the disposable camera, bummer. (FYI So to any of you out there that have a digital camera do what the instructions say and buy those stupid expensive batteries they really do make a difference between you camera working and not working.)

Soooo, Nick has a test every couple of days and he got 3 100% on his tests in a row! Overall he has an A in the class and it's already almost over because each course is only 3 weeks long. I'm so proud of him for going to school and doing so well in it already, I hope this boosts his confidence because he was really nervous about going back.

We started a new game night during the week so we turn the TV off for a little bit and hang out. It's been a blast we have a lot of fun playing Scrabble. This game only reminds me that I can't spell for you know what so we keep a dictionary handy. The only problem is the dictionary we have was one I kept from about 5th grade so it really doesn't have a lot of the words I uh...make up.....I mean need to look up.

Crap! What am I going to do with these letters?
Nope, not a word. (I'm eating pretzels)

Nick is thinking so hard, we were really getting down to the end
of the game and running out of options.

As far as Happy Homemaker Monday I have slacked...the camera wasn't working but here is a list of items you missed out on...more to come.

Pot Pie - Which looked absolutely Martha!
Lasagna
Apple Crumble
Cocoa Crackles - Which I re-named "My cookies look better than your cookies...cookie. "

What's left in the picture is sort of the "rejects" of the bunch, you know the only ones we were ever allowed to eat thanks mom! They look much better in person and oh so tasty.

First Happy Homemaker Monday!

Happy Homemaker Monday! I've decided to copy Kate and have a special day to blog about. So today is Happy Homemaker Monday and this week I made more curtains...I'm a sewing machine. Ah ah aha I'm funny. Daddy Joke!

We went to Ikea this week and they have some awesome fabrics so I was able to find some great patterns for our guest room. Hint hint we have a guest room for any of you who are in the area. Check out my creations.

The black and white ones cover up a huge storage closet that slides back and forth on a track on the ceiling, very cool.

It really is a lot hotter here!!!

So Nick and I just made the move to Phoenix, Damn it's hot here! It really is, at least 10 degrees and my pastey white skin can't handle it ;)
So we have great friends that showed up to help us move while I was finishing up my last day at work. Dave saved us, he was over most of the day helping Nick (On his day off) with the heavy stuff, I think we would still be loading the van if it wasn't for him. Then Grant, Charlie, and Lisa came over to help paint over the green on the wall and put the last of the stuff in the truck...we have WAY to much stuff and I'm turning into my hoarding mother. Love you Mom! ;) We rented the largest moving van they had! We only had a large one bedroom and the truck we ended up with is for a 3-4 bedroom house what the heck!!! So, needless to say we are joining the neighborhood garage sale next weekend. Don't worry Jane there probably isn't anything you want.

So we get into Phoenix at about 8:30 - 9:00 at night after loading and cleaning all day and then we had to unload the truck by ourselves because the truck was due back at 7:30 the next morning! We stayed up as late as we could but we were exhausted, Nick more than myself because he had already been moving all day while I was at work. We got up the next morning at 5:00 am to finish unloading the truck and barely made it to the drop off in time otherwise they charge you for being late. I hate moving, first of all I never want to know how heavy the sofa is nor how aqward the armware is to move again...we are never moving again.

The house we are renting was built in 1916 and is in a really cute historic district in down town Phoenix and I love it...not so much at first because there were lots of problems but we are finally setteling in now.

I have lots of plans for this house, the backyard is a dirt lot and the blue paint on the front of the house has got to go. I know it's not ours but I'm going to be happy while I'm here and they already said I could do what ever...they may take that back later we'll see.

I have already started making curtains, and we LOVE IKEA! Nick starts school here in a couple of weeks and I came home today after work and Nick made his very first batch of home made cookies from a recipet all by himself...I'm so proud and there wasn't even a fire ;)

Peer Pressure...Family Pressure that is.

So I feel the pressure, family pressure that is. Apparently I am the
"Last one not blogging"...that sounds like a great movie title...write that down.

You asked for it, so here it is a whole lot more information you didn't need to know about me.
